Purpose: Each year the 8th grade class at Christ the King Catholic School travels to Washington D.C. for an overnight field trip. This trip is an awesome educational opportunity where the students will visit many of D.C.’s finest attractions, including the Grant Memorial, the Library of Congress, the Supreme Court Building, Ford’s Theater, and many of the memorials. Students also visit the Arlington National Cemetery and take a day trip to Gettysburg, PA.

To gain an appreciation of American war heroes and to honor important individuals in U.S. history, students will have a walking tour to visit the Washington Monument, World War II, Vietnam, and Korean War Memorials. Additionally, students will visit memorials dedicated to former President Franklin D. Roosevelt and civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr. Special tours of the Holocaust Memorial Museum and the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception will give students a new perspectives on the heritage of their country. We will stay at a local hotel Wednesday and Thursday nights and travel by motor coach during the day to the different destinations. The Tiger Dash will provide opportunities for the students to raise money to go toward reducing the cost of the field trip.

Packet Pickup: Packet pickup will take place in Broad Ripple on Friday, February 28, 2014, from 5:00 PM-8:00 PM. Please make all efforts to pick up your packet at this time. An email with packet pickup directions/location will be sent when plans for this are finalized.

Race Day: We will be onsite by 10:30am for packet and chip pickup, as well as race day registration. To ensure we can start the race on time, please plan to be onsite at least an hour prior to race to pick up your timing chip. Please note, we may not be able to allow registrations within 45 minutes of the race starting, or check in within 30 minutes of the race start. Check-in will be at the blue tent near the finish line.

Parking: The school has parking for approximately 250 cars in their main parking lot. Please enter the church parking lot via Norwaldo. Additionally, plenty of street parking exists around the school.
